Understanding the treatment
How the treatment works, and what it is for.
A peel applies a controlled exfoliating substance. The depth, superficial, medium or deep, determines the effect and after-effects.
Indications: uneven texture, dull complexion, certain pigment spots, superficial acne scars. Depth depends on phototype.

- A peel acts on the skin surface; volume-related wrinkles call for another approach.
- Cheekbones, facial contour and hollows call for a volumising approach.

You receive written information and a detailed estimate. With your written consent, the treatment takes place the same day, straight after the consultation.

Preparation and aftercare
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds during the preceding two weeks.
- Stop exfoliating or retinoid products a few days beforehand, as advised during the consultation.
- Avoid waxing, exfoliation and close shaving on the area in the days beforehand.
- Tell us about a history of cold sores, pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Redness then peeling are usual, sometimes barely visible, for a few days to a week. Depending on depth, a few days away from social activities may be needed; timing is discussed before treatment around your constraints.
- Photoprotection is strict for several weeks: sun avoided, broad-spectrum sunscreen daily. Failing to follow it exposes you to hyperpigmentation.
Duration depends on the indication, depth and sun exposure. Daily photoprotection helps preserve the change. Several spaced sessions are often needed; the doctor explains follow-up during consultation.
Safety and warning signs
Contraindications
- Pregnancy
- Sun exposure recent or planned (holidays, UV, tanning booth)
- Dark phototypes for certain peels, due to the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- Recurrent cold sores (herpes labialis) not prevented by preventive treatment
- Recent isotretinoin (oral retinoid)
- Active wound or skin infection on the area to be treated
Adverse effects and complications
Frequent and transient: redness, desquamation, sensation of warmth, skin tightness during the renewal phase.
Rarer: post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, particularly in dark phototypes or in case of sun exposure; reactivation of unprevented cold sores; infection.
Exceptionally: scarring, lasting change in pigmentation. Any unusual event must be reported to the practice, which has a protocol for managing complications.

Superficial peel : €190
Per session. Usually a course of four sessions, adapted to how your skin tolerates it.
Medium-depth TCA peel : €390
Per session. One to three sessions, with skin preparation and seven to ten days of visible after-effects.
Each session is decided with you and paid on the day.

This treatment is carried out at the Anderlecht practice, in Brussels: Avenue du Roi-Soldat 79, 1070 Anderlecht. By public transport: metro 5 (Veeweyde station), line 81 (Ysaye stop), buses 46 and 75. Street parking; allow extra time at peak hours. Hours: Monday 13:00–18:00 · Wednesday 13:00–18:00, by appointment. The doctor consults in French, Turkish or English. Consultations also in Braine-l'Alleud, by appointment.
During the works, this part of line 81 is served by a replacement bus. Check the STIB information before you set off.
