Understanding the treatment
How the treatment works, and what it is for.
Hyaluronic acid holds water in the dermis. Injected as a cross-linked gel, it fills a wrinkle, restores volume or hydrates the skin depending on its density.
The doctor chooses density and quantity after examination. Hyaluronidase can dissolve the gel when a medical correction is indicated.

You receive written information and a detailed estimate. With your written consent, the treatment takes place the same day, straight after the consultation.

Preparation and aftercare
- Tell us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an autoimmune condition, a known allergy, and about any current medication.
- If you have had cold sores and the area is near the mouth, tell us: preventive treatment may be offered.
- Anticoagulants or aspirin: tell us, and never stop prescribed medication without your doctor's advice.
- Avoid dental treatment in the two weeks before and after the session.
- Avoid alcohol the day before.
- Plan an important event more than two weeks later: mild swelling or bruising can last a few days.
- Redness, swelling and tenderness last twenty-four to forty-eight hours. Bruising is possible, especially after a lip injection or under-eye treatment, and clears within five to ten days.
- Avoid intense exercise, sauna, steam room, sun exposure and massaging the area for forty-eight hours.
Depends on the product, the area and metabolism. Resorption is gradual and the result fades smoothly.
Safety and warning signs
Contraindications
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Active skin infection in the area to be treated
- Active autoimmune disease
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the product
- Coagulation disorders or an unassessed anticoagulant treatment
Adverse effects and complications
Frequent and transient: bruising, swelling, redness, local tenderness, small palpable irregularities in the first few days.
Rarer: inflammatory or non-inflammatory nodules, granulomas, infection, migration or asymmetry of the product requiring correction.
Rare but serious: vascular occlusion, meaning the obstruction of a vessel by the product, which can lead to skin necrosis and, exceptionally, visual impairment. It requires immediate management. A written emergency protocol and hyaluronidase are available at the practice, and direct contact details are given to you after each injection.

Two brands, two prices. Restylane, from the Galderma laboratory, has been a global reference in hyaluronic acid since 1996: its higher fee mainly reflects the prestige of the brand. Hyafilia and Restylane are both CE-marked, and I inject them with the same protocol. Each additional millilitre is charged at the same rate. The planned quantity and the total appear on the estimate, before the treatment. The review around day 15 and any touch-up are included.

Appointments and access
Where this treatment takes place: address, access and hours.
This treatment is carried out at the Anderlecht practice, in Brussels: Avenue du Roi-Soldat 79, 1070 Anderlecht. By public transport: metro 5 (Veeweyde station), line 81 (Ysaye stop), buses 46 and 75. Street parking; allow extra time at peak hours. Hours: Monday 13:00–18:00 · Wednesday 13:00–18:00, by appointment. The doctor consults in French, Turkish or English. Consultations also in Braine-l'Alleud, by appointment.
During the works, this part of line 81 is served by a replacement bus. Check the STIB information before you set off.
